What is required to fix this is an honest, all hands on deck strategy that leads to a solution. That solution won’t come easily or cheap! I’ve tried for years to point out various pitfalls in logic with respect to institutionalized thinking, but academics, politicians, and even our courts are not open to even listening and/or self analysis. The results can clearly be seen in the mess that is LTB today.
To fix this, we everyday Canadians must unite and work together. We may eventually have to sue LTB and possibly the Government of Ontario. History has shown us that landlords cannot rely on government agencies as the only consistency I can find shows lengthy academic initiatives that deliver lots of formal Reports, Commissions and Inquiries, overseen by academics with no hands-on knowledge or experience. They consistently deliver nothing along the lines of actual solutions and/or remedies. The Barrett Report for British Columbia’s “Leaky Condos” in 1998 is an excellent example of this. Years of study and report preparation and millions of tax payer dollars spent with no material impact on the condo industry.
